Hey, I'm Cassandra.

I'm a twenty-something mom and dork who works currently as a special education instruction assistant for grades K-5. I hope to have my own classroom someday soon, but for now I am so happy doing what I'm doing until God puts me where I need to be. I have an incredible family and the best friends. I have a hilarious and amazing son, Townes, who is a year old. I love animals, eating, and pretty much anything that involves creating. I go to the movies regularly and love picking up a good book when I have a minute.

I love to laugh.

One of my favorite quotes, from the magnificent Audrey Hepburn, "I believe laughing is the best calorie burner". I couldn't agree more Audrey. Expect some humor, dumb jokes, and a splash of sarcasm because that's just who I am as a human. We need laughter as badly as we need kindness.

I love writing.

My love of writing inspired me to start my own blog. I may be the only one who sees it, but I wanted to get in the habit of pursuing my creative side more and pushing myself to write more. I have a ton of different interests; beauty & fashion, mommin' life, books & films, home decor, art & DIY projects, food, journaling & writing, and more. Even though I have a wide variety of interests I hope each post will be something anyone can enjoy and I hope to put a little bit of myself and a little bit of "sunshine" in each one.

I saw recently a journal where you fill each day with your three favorite moments of that day. I'm gonna do try to do that on every post. No matter how bad the day, we can always find three good moments. 

Three moments I loved today (7/25/18):

Moment One: Going into Forever 21 with Townes.

We went into Forever 21 with my mother-in-law to get a giftcard. As soon as we walked in, Townes started dancing and jamming. He started running around the store, having a blast and making everyone laugh. (We ultimately lost his paci in the excitement.) It was just so fun to watch, this age is so fun.

Moment Two: Getting Pie at Buttermilk Sky Pie.

While in town, we just had to stop by our favorite pie shop! I decided on a coconut creme and key-lime for Benjamin and I. Sometimes you just need a little sweet in your day.

Moment Three: Starting a Blog!

I am so excited about starting a blog! I hope it's something I enjoy keeping up with and that it helps me write more and focus on things that make me happy.

          I recently had the absolute pleasure of having a Galentine's getaway with my forever friends. Four girls who somehow knew we would always be in one another's lives. We've known each other for 16+ years. That is so crazy to think about. We also could not be more different as human beings. You hear people say, "we're the same person!" and that just isn't us. That's what makes it work. We have different opinions, interests, talents, lives, but we all have each other. I know we're lucky, I don't know many adults in my life who have friends like us. DIY Accent Wall (Under 5 dollars!)

I started, and finished another new project! As we get more comfortable in our home, I'm trying to start adding things that make it ours. Whether that's photos, pieces that represent or mean something to each of us, or in this case, something I made.  I found inspiration while scrolling Instagram of course, Aspen ( @bohobitsofhome ) has done this project twice in her own home, and her account is the first place I saw it. I immediately fell in love with how unique it was, and how it added such a cute bohemian pop to her spaces! As soon as I saw it I said the age-old phrase I say too often, "I could do that!". You might hear me say this phrase when I see a painting at Target, or an easy meal on Pinterest, or an outfit idea on Instagram. Although these ideas don't always work out, (tough love Cassandra, you sometimes can't do that) this one I actually could! How to be Hospitable Hosts

We recently hosted some guests in our home, that's what inspired me to finish my accent wall. Sadly, I didn't have the wall finished by the time they stayed. I did however make sure they felt comfortable and at home. So this blog post is going to be a easy little guide on how to make any guests in your home feel welcome. I'll have them saying "Wow, is this an Airbnb?" (Which I'll have you know my guests said while they were here 😂 ) I have stayed places before where I felt unsure and uncomfortable, I wanted to make sure that anyone staying with us felt like it was their second home as long as they were there. I love having people stay with us and I am such a people-pleaser. A lot of these ideas are super easy, but make such an impact on the people who see them.
