It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year (Blogmas 1)

December is here!

If you know me, at all, you know that December is my absolute favorite time of year. I love the cold, the sweaters, the hot chocolate, the desserts, the gift-wrapping, the snow (fingers crossed), the wool socks, the movies, the family time, the gift giving, the decorations, the smells, oh I could go on for hours. Winter is when I start to get excited, but December is when I am ecstatic.

I haven't blogged in 2 months!

I know, that's a really long time, when I had committed to blogging once a week. LOL. I am not so concerned about my blogging timeline any more. I know I have a lot going on, and if I find time to sit and write, cool. If I don't have time, cool. I have had a great two months. A lot has happened. Thanksgiving was wonderful and my best friend, cousin, and their angel baby dogs stayed at our house! It was so great having them here, Townes adored them and was so thrilled to have the dogs in our house. I have to say I was the most excited, however. I don't get to see them very often, and so having them stay with us while they were in was the best treat ever. (Hopefully they will stay with us next time too! 😉)
Me, trying to pull myself together after the past 2 months.

So, I am sad I haven't written in so long, but I have enjoyed the time in between. There was a lot I hope to catch you up on later, but in the mean time:

Back to December...

With December being the absolute best month of the year, I will not be dissuaded from this opinion, I thought I would try to participate in BLOGMAS. Yes that is a real thing, I saw it on Pinterest. All this means is I am going to try, (try being the key word here, you all saw my 2 months away) to blog my way through December making each post something fun and December related. A true Blogmas requires the writer to write one post a day and that will be a real challenge for me, but I love December so I am feeling inspired.

So to kick off my very first BLOGMAS post, LOL

I am going to share with you, my must-watch December movie list (In no particular order).

Number 1: Love Actually

Rowan Atkinson, Colin Firth, Hugh Grant, Liam Neeson, Alan Rickman, Emma Thompson, Laura Linney, Keira Knightley, Martine McCutcheon, Bill Nighy, and Nina Sosanya in Love Actually (2003)
I am sad it took me so long to watch this movie. Benjamin introduced it to me as one of the best, and I really doubted him, but I am happy to say he has never let me down with a movie recommendation and this is no exception. This hits all things I love in a movie and all things I love in a Christmas movie.

Number 2: It's a Wonderful Life

Did you really think I would leave this one out? It's a classic, and for good reason. They do an awesome showing in Bristol at the Cameo theater with music played on a Wurlitzer organ and refreshments afterwards FO FREE. My sister-in-law, Cassandra, took us two years ago and it was so much fun. They do it every year. If you haven't seen it, I really don't want to say much more. So I will quote for you my friend Reagan's favorite part, "Over here, in the hydrangea bushes!" 😂

Number 3: A Christmas Story

This one makes me think of my dad. I really need to sit down and watch this one as a whole again this year. Most of my memories of it are it playing all day in the background at our house, while we ran around like crazy people and my dad watched it and laughed so hard. Nonetheless, it's a must-watch.

Number 4: The Holiday

Cameron Diaz, Jude Law, Kate Winslet, and Jack Black in The Holiday (2006)

I feel like this one is a hidden gem a lot of people don't talk about. It is so good! "I really like it!" (In an English accent). Just watch it, you'll get it. Two women who are sick of men want to leave their lives and go away and avoid the holidays.

Number 5: The Santa Clause

Oh my gosh. I could watch this movie over and over and it is still just one of my absolute favorites. The sequels aren't too bad either, but this one is the one you have to watch. Tim Allen kills it, makes me laugh every time. It is about a man who has to take on the job of Santa, against his will.

Number 6: Elf

There isn't much to say about this one. Again, I can't watch it too many times. Chances are everyone has seen this movie and either hated it or loved it. I fall into the later category. If you haven't seen it, uh?

Number 7: Christmas with the Kranks

Another great Tim Allen Christmas movie. This one makes me think of my mom, we laugh so hard at it. I think it's another hidden gem I don't hear enough people talk about. This one is a great story about some people who try their best to skip Christmas.

Number 8: Jingle All the Way

Arnold has some great movies, y'all. This movie perfectly captures all the crazy shoppers this season, and how far a dad will go to make his son happy. Black Friday shopping feels, before we had a designated day for crazy shopping.

Number 9: A Year Without a Santa Claus / Santa Claus is Coming to Town / Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer

These stop-motion movies are still so good. I love all of them, so I combined them into one for this one. You can hear me this time of year singing the Heatmiser/Snowmiser song as loud as I can. Thank you Sara for introducing me to that one in elementary school. Also, who knew Santa was such a handsome ginger when he was younger? 😍

Number 10: Mickey's Once Upon a Christmas

This may seem like a kid option, but most these movies channel my childhood and that's why I love them so much. This one is an anthology (which I always love) and each story is so so sweet and heartwarming. It makes me cry every time I watch them.

Bonus Option: Die Hard

Not ready for carols and candy canes? This one will warm you right up to Christmas with "40 stories of sheer adventure!" Benjamin showed me this for the first time last year, and I'm sorry Bruce Willis, but I think I'll have to agree, this one is a great Christmas movie.

Well I hope I have helped get you into the spirit!

If not, these movies sure will do the trick. Be ready for more Christmas/December fun!
Is there any I left out? Which ones are on your must-watch list?

Comments

  1. I also have to add National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation! This is Jennifer's favorite, and it reminds me of her! Chevy Chase at his best! His bro-n-law!! 🤣🤣
And there is one with Dudley Moore, Santa Claus the Movie. LOVED IT!
I love White Christmas, Miracle on 39th St (the old one) and now my new favorite is Netflix's original this year: The Christmas Chronicles with Kurt Russell. The scene with him singing is worth watching it for, and meeting Mrs Claus!
Thanks for spreading the CassieChristmas joy. I look forward to the next 30!
